A lifelong Kilmarnock supporter has expressed an interest in helping the struggling Scottish Premier League (SPL) club with fresh investment.
Kenny Alexander, an Ayrshire-born businessman who runs an internet gaming company, told BBC Sport that he hopes to meet chairman Michael Johnston for talks later this week.
Kilmarnock are heavily in debt and have mounting problems on the pitch, with manager Jim Jefferies handing in his resignation at Rugby Park on Monday (January 11th) after a string of poor results.
Mr Alexander said: "Kilmarnock's predicament is pretty serious. The situation is quite difficult."
He described the state of the club's finances as "bleak", but added that he was "heartened by the enthusiasm of the support" for Scotland's oldest professional football club.
Kilmarnock are currently two points off the bottom of the SPL and have won just three games all season.
Tommy McLean, the former Dundee United manager, is expected to take temporary charge of the team before Saturday's home game against Motherwell.
