Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has used his Twitter account to stress the need for a fresh injection of cash at Anfield.
When asked about his opinion of the club's American owners during an impromptu question and answer session with fans on the social networking site, the 23-year-old Dutchman responded by saying: "We need more money for the club!"
The question was posed by Liverpool supporter Paul Gardner, who claimed that Babel's comments suggests that the reign of George Gillett and Tom Hicks is starting to unsettle the squad.
"His answer doesn't directly answer the question, but it shows that Tom and George's actions with lack of investment does filter down to the players," Mr Gardner commented.
Meanwhile, Hicks has maintained the dialogue with the Liverpool supporters group Spirit of Shankly following his son's recent departure from the board.
Tom Hicks Jr was forced to resign after sending an offensive email to a fan, but his father promised supporters that the squad will be strengthened this summer.
"We know we need more depth in the squad but January is a poor quality market," Hicks said in an email.
