Usmanov calls on Kroenke to clarify plans for Arsenal

Alisher Usmanov has urged his fellow Arsenal shareholder Stan Kroenke to make his plans for the club known.

US billionaire Kroenke is on the verge of the 30 per cent threshold that would trigger a mandatory takeover bid after buying another 25 shares in the north London outfit for £212,500 on Monday (December 21st).

However, he is remaining silent over his intentions for Arsenal and Usmanov - the club's second biggest shareholder with a 26 per cent stake - believes he should offer some clarification.

"Mr Kroenke has never taken the opportunity to reassure the fans and it would be good for the club's stability if he were to do so," a spokesperson for the Russian's Red and White Holdings company told the BBC.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Kroenke is unlikely to act before May if he does plan to launch a takeover at the Emirates Stadium, as doing so would require him to offer the relatively high price of £10,500 per share.

The businessman has been dubbed "silent Stan" due to his low public profile and continued reticence over his long-term plans at Arsenal.
