Plymouth Argyle have insisted that a transfer embargo recently issued by the Football League will not affect their ability to sign players in the transfer window.
Unpaid debts have caused the league to ban the Championship side from making any signings, but executive director Keith Todd suggested that there will still be new arrivals and departures at Home Park in January.
Speaking to the Plymouth Herald, he said: "There is a temporary embargo but it has no bearing on our transfers.
"We will be in the market in January in the normal course of events."
Todd also said that the transfer embargo relates to a "historical issue" and a "technicality".
Reports indicate that the ban has been in place for several weeks, although the Football League has declined to comment on the issue.
Plymouth Argyle are currently second from bottom in the Championship following a run of four straight defeats.
Paul Sturrock was removed from his position as manager last week, with head coach Paul Mariner taking charge of the team.
