Peter Trembling has completed his management buyout of Notts County following Munto Finance's decision to sell the club.

A statement on the League Two outfit's official website confirmed that the executive chairman has paid "a nominal sum" to take ownership at Meadow Lane with immediate effect.

The buyout was announced shortly before Notts County's game against Accrington Stanley on Saturday (December 12th), when they were beaten at home for the first time this season.

Trembling told the website that he hopes the buyout will "draw a line under several weeks of speculation" surrounding the club, who were only bought by Munto Finance in July.

He added: "We have restructured the ownership of the football club in order to secure new and prolonged investment."

Trembling has already passed the Football League's fit and proper persons test.

Last week, former Notts County chairman John Armstrong-Holmes told the Guardian that he feels he was "hoodwinked" into handing the club over to Munto and the company's backer Qadbak Investments.
