Cardiff City boss hopeful of January investment

Dave Jones has said that he will try to put the Cardiff City board "under pressure" for some extra spending money in January.

The Bluebirds boss told BBC Sport that he is keen to bolster his squad during the transfer window, although his ability to sign new players depends on the club's football finance situation.

Malaysian businessman Datuk Chan Tien Ghee joined the Cardiff City board last month and made an initial investment, but Jones is hopeful that more funds will be forthcoming.

"If we get to January and can get some investment, we can hopefully go and do some business," the former Southampton manager said.

He added: "If we can put the chairman and the board under pressure to try and give us something in January, then we'll do it."

However, the Championship club still have sizeable debts to clear and were granted a 70-day reprieve from a HM Revenue & Customs winding-up order just last month.

Cardiff City moved up to third in the league with a 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday (December 8th).
