Football 'bouncing back from the recession'

Football Finance News

The football sector is beginning to financially bounce back from the global economic downturn, according to one industry expert.

FIFA boss Sepp Blatter made his remarks at the Soccerex football business symposium, which took place in Gauteng Province in South Africa between November 28th and December 2nd.

He is quoted by the BBC as saying: "I think we are seeing sponsorship [in football] starting to rise up again from the bottom it hit during the economic crisis."

The news provider notes that Mr Blatter said some of the lower professional football leagues in countries such as Italy, Spain and France were particularly affected by the recession, as many of them no longer have the money they once did.

However, he asserted that "TV money" is one of the factors that has helped spur recovery in the sector, alongside the upcoming World Cup.

He said that Brazil is a good choice for the 2014 edition of the tournament as its economy is thriving.
