Liverpool have refused to consider the prospect of sharing a ground with neighbours Everton after the latter club's plans for a new stadium were rejected.
Robert Elstone, Everton's chief executive, said that sharing a home with their local rivals would be "an option" for the Toffees following the government's dismissal of their proposed stadium development in Kirkby.
However, reports indicate that Liverpool have shown no interest in the scheme because they remain committed to their own plans to build a new ground.
According to the Independent, Anfield chiefs view the idea of sharing facilities with Everton as "unthinkable" due to the substantial amount of time and money that has already been invested in their new stadium project.
Liverpool are aiming to build a 60,000-seater arena in Stanley Park and have already secured planning permission for the stadium, but work was put on hold in August last year.
The two clubs face each other in the 212th Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Sunday (November 29th).
