Rangers fans make plea for investment

Rangers supporters have emphasised the importance of fresh investment after the club's European campaign came to a miserable end at Ibrox.

The 2-0 loss to Stuttgart last night (November 24th) was Rangers' third straight home defeat in the UEFA Champions League and ensured that Walter Smith's side were eliminated from the competition with a game to spare.

Speaking after the game, Rangers Supporters Trust spokesperson David Edar said that the European exit demonstrated the growing financial gulf between Rangers and Europe's top football clubs.

"Unfortunately, we deserve to be out," he told the Press Association.

"To continue to get into the big boys' playground of the UEFA Champions League, you have to have a level of investment."

Earlier this month, the Glasgow club released a financial report showing that its debts now total £31.1 million.

Former Birmingham City chairman David Gold recently ruled out buying into Rangers. He told the Daily Mail that he believes "the good times are over for the Old Firm".
