Supporters of Bristol City and Bristol Rovers combined to raise money for Help for Heroes with a special football match.
The friendly took place in Whitchurch on Sunday (November 15th) and generated £4,500 for the charity, which provides support for wounded British servicemen and women, the Bristol Evening Post reports.
Although the Bristol Rovers fans recorded an emphatic 7-0 victory in the match, organiser Tim Dicks said that the final result was largely immaterial.
"We had fans from both sides and the whole point was to raise vital funds for Help for Heroes," he told the newspaper.
"There was a collection and raffle with prizes including signed Bristol City and Bristol Rovers shirts and a holiday to Ireland."
Help for Heroes was founded in October 2007 and its patrons include Ross Kemp, Andy McNab and Anneka Rice.
The charity's current campaign involves raising money to establish specialist Army Recovery Centres around the UK.
