A group of Port Vale supporters braved the elements to walk to their club's home game against Rotherham on Saturday (November 14th).
Football fans were given the incentive of cheaper match tickets to take part in the walk, which was organised by the Closer To Home Circular Walks scheme and Vale in the Community, the Sentinel reports.
Despite the heavy rain and wind, a total of 30 supporters completed the 45-minute trek to Vale Park from Central Forest Park, with all adults who were not season ticket-holders gaining entry to the ground for £10 instead of the usual price of £19.
"Considering how bad the weather has been, we have done really well to get 30 people on the walk," Pat Whitehouse, project manager for the Closer To Home scheme, told the newspaper.
"It's all about encouraging people to become more active and lead healthier lifestyles."
Port Vale were beaten 2-1 in the League Two clash, with Nicky Law netting a late winner for Rotherham after the home side's goalscorer Luke Prosser had been sent off for a second bookable offence.
