St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson has praised the decision to move his side's Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final against Heart of Midlothian to Fir Park.
The game was initially due to be staged at Hibernian's Easter Road stadium, but St Mirren voiced concerns that the venue would give their Edinburgh-based opponents an unfair advantage.
Following talks with the Scottish Football League, Fir Park in Motherwell was confirmed as the new venue for the match, which takes place on February 2nd.
MacPherson told the Daily Record that "common sense" had played a large part in switching the semi-final stadium.
"We are going to a neutral venue that is logistically suitable for both clubs," he added.
"Even though the semi-final is a long way off, St Mirren can now look forward to the game."
Fir Park has a capacity of just under 14,000 and was used by the now-defunct Gretna for their home games during the 2007-09 season.
The other last-four clash in the Co-operative Insurance Cup will see Rangers take on St Johnstone at Hampden Park on February 3rd.
