£260 million could be injected into the local economy by a new stadium for Bristol City, a report has revealed.
A report looking into the possibility of building a new football stadium for Bristol City Football Club has revealed that it could create thousands of jobs and bring £260 million to the local economy.
While not only providing the club with state-of-the-art facilities, 4,000 jobs could be generated by the creation of the new ground, in addition to approximately £13 million per year for the next two decades.
The planning committee expects the revenue to come from renting out a new conference centre, potential music concerts, new hotels, shops and sponsorship. Locals would also be able to make use of new homes and a top-of-the range gym.
Chief executive of the club Colin Sextone highlighted this impact, saying: "The development of a new regional stadium at Ashton Vale will undoubtedly have a dramatic and unprecedented impact on the economy of the area."
Bristol City currently lie in fifth place in the Championship.
