Fabio Capello is set to unveil a new sculpture of legendary England manager Sir Alf Ramsey at Wembley later this week.

Due to be presented by the current England boss on Friday (November 6th), the statue was created by artist Philip Jackson and will take up a permanent home in the tunnel area of the national stadium.

Mr Jackson was also responsible for the Wembley statue of Bobby Moore and the depiction of Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and George Best that stands outside Old Trafford.

He commented: "Sir Alf was well known for being firm and was a very strong individual, so I hope those steely qualities come over through the sculpture."

Ramsey was knighted in 1967 after guiding England to World Cup glory the previous year.

Born in Dagenham in 1920, he had spells at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur during a successful playing career before moving into management with Ipswich Town.
