Peter Ridsdale has said that Malaysian businessman Dato Chan Tien Ghee is on the verge of investing in Cardiff City.
Speaking during the half-time interval of the Bluebirds' Championship clash with Nottingham Forest yesterday (November 1st), the club chairman revealed that he expects Mr Chan to buy into the club in the next few weeks.
According to WalesOnline, Ridsdale is hopeful that the fresh investment can be used to help clear Cardiff City's £24 million debt.
Commenting on the club's prospective new backer, he said: "We've been talking to him for over a year now. He is a very keen football supporter and has become a very keen Cardiff City supporter.
"Clearly any club in this league needs to have substantial investment."
The game at the Cardiff City Stadium finished 1-1, with Lewis McGugan scoring a late equaliser for Nottingham Forest after Jay Bothroyd had put the home side in front on 63 minutes.
