Ilyas Khan has offered to contribute to Accrington Stanley's outstanding tax bill after the League Two outfit were given an extra seven days to settle up with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)

The High Court granted the extension on Wednesday (October 28th) after it emerged that just £96,000 of the club's £308,000 shortfall has been received by HMRC so far.

Earlier in the week, Accrington Stanley claimed that over £200,000 of the debt had been repaid.

Mr Khan, a local stockbroker and former shareholder at the Crown Ground, has repeatedly pledged money but his offers have been rejected by the directors, who feared losing control of the club.

However, he told the Lancashire Telegraph that he does not expect any shares in return for his financial assistance.

"The reason I will put forward the money is because I love Accrington and the club and that is the only reason," Mr Khan stated.

Accrington Stanley now have until November 4th to pay the outstanding £112,000 in full.
