The chairman of Airdrie United has warned that dwindling home crowds are placing the club's future under threat.
With the North Lanarkshire outfit's last home game against Ross County attracting a gate of just 756, Jim Ballantyne said that the club will not survive unless attendance levels at New Broomfield improve.
Airdrie United are currently bottom of the Scottish First Division, having failed to pick up a single victory in their opening 11 league games under manager Kenny Black.
"We are at a crossroads right now and Airdrie will not survive as a football club on crowds of 750," Ballantyne told the Daily Record.
He added: "We were there for the fans in their hour of need in 2002 but now the role is reversed and we need their support on Saturday against Ayr."
Airdrie United were formed in 2002 after the town's previous club Airdrieonions went into liquidation.
They won the Scottish Challenge Cup in November last year, beating Ross County on penalties after the final at McDiarmid Park in Perth finished 2-2.
