An iPhone application offering fans the latest club news and match highlights has been launched by Arsenal.

Priced at £2.99, the application was released on Tuesday (October 20th) and features a news feed taken directly from the English Premier League club's official website, as well as player profiles, exclusive interviews, statistics and other special features.

General manager of Arsenal Broadband Michael Leavy said the idea behind the new offering was to "create a quality fan experience that extended beyond the stands at the Emirates stadium and reaches across the world".

He added: "With more than 50 million supporters worldwide, developing an app was the next logical step."

Meanwhile, utalkmarketing.com reported that the application had reached number ten in Apple's paid-for apps chart by Wednesday.

Developed by mobile specialist 2ergo, the application was co-funded by Arsenal sponsors O2 and is designed for use with Apple's latest OS3.0 iPhone software.

Arsene Wenger's side drew 1-1 with AZ Alkmaar in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday, with a late goal by David Mendes Da Silva cancelling out Cesc Fabregas' first-half strike.
