Harry Redknapp has expressed his delight at the warm welcome he received at Fratton Park on Saturday (October 17th).
Returning to his former club as Tottenham Hotspur manager, Redknapp was applauded by Portsmouth supporters as he made his way to the dugout before the game.
Pre-match rumours had suggested that the 62-year-old would be subjected to a hostile reception from sections of the home support, but the visiting manager claimed that their conduct had restored his faith in English football fans.
He commented: "They were as good as gold. Where I was sat, the people were absolutely lovely. There was no one giving me abuse.
"Even if we'd got beaten, I wouldn't have gone home as disappointed because that was important to me."
Tottenham Hotspur won the English Premier League fixture 2-1, with Ledley King and Jermain Defoe scoring for the north Londoners before Kevin-Prince Boateng pulled one back for Portsmouth.
Defoe was then shown a red card for a stamp on Aaron Mokoena, but the visitors clung on to claim the three points.
