Bristol City supporter Tim Dicks will run from Ashton Gate to Home Park in Plymouth next year to raise money for Help the Heroes, the injured soldiers charity.

He plans to set off on his 126-mile journey from the centre spot at Ashton Gate during the half-time interval of Bristol City's Championship clash with Doncaster Rovers on March 6th.

Mr Dicks will then arrive at the Devon coast in time for his club's game against Plymouth Argyle on March 16th, the Bristol City website reports.

"I'm looking at raising £5,000 for the charity and every little helps when it comes to sponsorship," the 26-year-old said.

He is also arranging a special football match in which fans of Bristol City will take on Bristol Rovers supporters to generate money for Help the Heroes, which provides practical support for wounded service personnel.

"I feel that we can make a difference and show Bristol that football rivalries seem almost petty compared to what some of these lads have to go through," Mr Dicks told the website.
