Football fans flocked to the centre of Worcester to catch a glimpse of the English Premier League trophy at the weekend.

The silverware went on display at Barclays bank in Worcester High Street as part of a campaign to promote the newly-refurbished branch, Berrow's Worcester Journal reports.

According to the newspaper, football fans of all ages visited the bank to see the famous trophy and pose for photographs.

"It's really exciting having it here in Worcester. We've seen everybody from little old ladies to mums and dads with babies coming in to have their pictures taken," said Barclays area manager Ann Harvey.

The bank has sponsored the English Premier League since 2004, when it replaced previous sponsor Barclaycard and the competition become known as the Barclays Premiership.

In 2006, Barclays added another three years to its existing contract with the league in a deal worth £65.8 million, taking the sponsorship agreement up to summer 2010.
