Milton Keynes' bid to become a host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup has been backed by Dan Magness, England's world record-holding 'football freestyler'.

Earlier this year, the 26-year-old set the Guinness World Record for 'keepy-uppys' after juggling a ball with his feet for 24 hours, taking over 250,000 touches in the process.

He said that bringing FIFA World Cup action to Milton Keynes in 2018 would be a fantastic boost for the city's football fans.

"I think that Milton Keynes would be a brilliant host city, as stadium:mk is superb and local citizens would have the chance to watch world-class football right on their doorstep," Magness told the official bid website.

Milton Keynes is one of 16 applicants hoping to be selected as a host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Stadium:mk is the current home of Milton Keynes Dons and hosted its first game in November 2007.

Although it was built with an initial seating capacity of just over 22,000, plans to expand the stadium to 43,000 were presented to bid inspectors last month.
