Portsmouth owner 'would be willing to sell'

Sulaiman al-Fahim is in talks to sell a large part of his stake in Portsmouth to a Saudi Arabian investor, just three months after completing his takeover of the club.

According to reports, Saudi businessman Ali al-Faraj will make an offer for a majority stake in the English Premier League strugglers following negotiations with Fahim today (October 5th).

A spokesperson for the owner confirmed that Fahim would be prepared to surrender control at Fratton Park to solve the football finance issues currently dogging the club.

He said: "Sulaiman expects an offer to be made. In the best interests of the club, he is willing to forego full ownership.

"If and when an offer is on the table, it will be considered on its merits."

Last week it emerged that Portsmouth's players had not received their wages for September due to a "delay in the transfer of funds" after Fahim's takeover.

Paul Hart's side recorded their first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at Molineux.
