West Bromwich Albion fan proposes at half-time

A West Bromwich Albion supporter recently used the half-time interval to ask for his girlfriend's hand in marriage.

Perhaps inspired by the romance of a Championship fixture at the Hawthorns, Simon Brown popped the question to Claire Hunt midway through his team's game against Crystal Palace on Saturday (September 26th), the Coventry Telegraph reports.

Although West Bromwich Albion lost the match to a second-half goal from Alassane N'Diaye, Mr Brown left the stadium a happy man after Ms Hunt accepted his proposal.

"Claire had no idea I was going to ask but she loved it. We lost 1-0, but at least I got a result out of it," he told the newspaper.

The 35-year-old football fan said the wedding is likely to take place in 2011.

West Bromwich Albion have now lost twice in a row since beating Middlesbrough 5-0, as the Crystal Palace defeat was followed by a 3-1 loss at Barnsley on Tuesday night.
