A Tranmere Rovers supporter is urging his fellow fans to back an online petition calling for managerial changes at Prenton Park.

Phil Woods is unhappy with manager John Barnes and his assistant Jason McAteer, who have presided over a miserable start to the season for the Birkenhead side.

Tranmere Rovers have lost seven of their opening eight games in League One, prompting Mr Woods to set up his petition, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.

The document reads: "Enough is enough. The supporters of Tranmere Rovers Football Club can no longer sit back while the current managerial team ruin the club.

"We ask the chairman and the board to terminate the contracts of John Barnes and Jason McAteer with immediate effect."

The Wirral-based club currently sit one place off the bottom of League One, having conceded 20 goals in the first eight games.

Mr Woods is a lifelong Tranmere Rovers fan who in 2007 spearheaded a petition to grant goalkeeper John Achterberg a testimonial, attracting over 3,000 signatures.
