Plans to build a new football stadium for Liverpool will go ahead once the current economic climate improves, Tom Hicks has stated.
Coming just days after the club announced that it has been given a financial boost after securing a new sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered, the Anfield co-owner has pledged to push ahead with the move to a new home in Stanley Park.
Although plans for the new 60,000-seater stadium were unveiled more than a year ago, they have been put on hold indefinitely as a result of the global financial climate, though Hicks is confident that work will recommence soon.
"We have every permit in place, the council's approval, everything is done. Certainly it will happen," the American said.
"When we get to the point where the global market settles down, we can bring pieces together to finance the stadium."
Meanwhile, Liverpool have reportedly been told to come up with £45 million should they wish to sign Argentine winger Angel DiMaria from Benfica.
