The campaign to keep the National Football Museum at Deepdale was backed by hundreds of football fans ahead of Preston North End's Championship match against Swansea City on Saturday (September 12th).
Plans to move the museum to Manchester's Urbis centre have proved unpopular in Preston, with the Lancashire Evening Post organising a campaign to keep the attraction at its current home.
According to the newspaper, fans of Preston North End were joined by Swansea City, Liverpool and Accrington Stanley supporters when they assembled outside the museum at the weekend.
Local football fan Shaun Breakell told the publication that he believes the museum belongs in Preston.
He said: "This is the home of football. Every time I come to Preston North End there are loads of away supporters in the museum. They make a beeline to it."
Preston North End beat Swansea City 2-0 on Saturday to continue their unbeaten start to the season, with the goals coming from Neil Mellor and Stuart Elliott.
