English football fans have been urged to be cautious when booking trips to South Africa for next years' FIFA World Cup finals.
Thousands of England supporters are expected to travel to the country in June 2010 after Fabio Capello's side sealed their place in the tournament with a 5-1 victory over Croatia last night (September 9th).
However, the travel organisation Abta has warned fans over ticket scams for the event and urged travellers to only book packages for South Africa through officially recognised operators.
"When you book, you should do so with a company authorised by FIFA," said Abta spokesperson Sean Tipton.
"In the past we have had instances of people booking trips for major sporting events and then finding that their tickets did not materialise."
Foreign Office advisers have also warned England fans over the high level of crime in major South African cities such as Johannesburg.
The draw for the group stages of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which will run from June 11th to July 11th, is due to take place on December 4th.
