The team behind Newcastle and Gateshead's campaign to be a host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup is urging local football fans to get behind the bid.
In order to publicise the campaign, supporters living on Tyneside have been asked to wear their football shirts to work as a special event on Thursday September 10th, the Evening Chronicle reports.
Andrew Dixon, chief executive of the bid team, told the newspaper that the north-east city is "full of people passionate about football".
He added: "Whatever team you support, whether it is Newcastle United, England, five-a-side or even a grass-roots community team, we are urging everyone to show their true colours and back the bid."
The joint Newcastle and Gateshead bid is one of 16 cities currently in the running to stage FIFA World Cup action if England's attempt to host the tournament proves successful.
Plymouth became the 16th applicant city last month, with the England bid company expected to announce the successful locations in December.
