Certain games from the opening weekends of the Scottish football season could be declared void due to the ongoing situation involving Livingston.
The Scottish Football League (SFL) recently decided to relegate Livingston from the Scottish First Division to the fourth tier for breaching the league's insolvency rules.
However, with the club appealing against the decision, Livingston decided to postpone their weekend game away at East Stirlingshire.
The SFL also now have to reach an agreement on Livingston's refusal to play as a separate issue to the appeal against their demotion.
It is believed that the appeal is set to fail, with Livingston needing to pick up a majority vote to have the decision overturned, with early estimates predicting that only three or four clubs will vote in their favour.
The BBC reports that Livingston interim manager Donald McGruther said: "For us to play a Third Division club without prejudice is ludicrous."
Meanwhile, Hamilton Academicals were given a 15-point penalty when they decided not to appear in a game against Stenhousemuir nine years ago over an unpaid bonus dispute.
