Ipswich Town chief executive Simon Clegg has revealed the club is considering naming one of the stands at Portman Road after Sir Bobby Robson.
The former England manager died on July 31st after a long battle with cancer and is still fondly remembered in Ipswich for his time at the Suffolk club.
Under Sir Bobby's stewardship, Ipswich established themselves as a force at home and abroad in the late 1970s and early 1980s, winning the FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA Cup in 1981.
According to Clegg, the Championship outfit has been considering for some time how best to commemorate their former manager and said discussions had even taken place with the man himself.
"Naming a stand after Sir Bobby is one of the options that we have discussed and we spoke to Sir Bobby about it but he didn't feel it was appropriate until a period after he had passed away," he told the club website.
"We obviously want to respect that and will respect that."
In his autobiography Farewell But Not Goodbye, Robson maintained that Ipswich's failure to win the league during his time at the helm was his biggest disappointment in club management.
The best the club could manage was two second-place finishes in 1981 and 1982.
