Bournemouth have been given a three-month reprieve to pay the next instalment on a debt owed to HM Revenue and Customs.

The League Two club have 12 weeks to make the payment after having a winding-up petition against them adjourned.

Chairman Eddie Mitchell revealed that an interim payment has already been paid soon after a takeover by the Murry Group was completed and that the latest developments allow time to find the finances to pay for the second instalment.

The consortium led by local businessman Adam Murry completed the purchase of Bournemouth last month.

Former co-owners Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly are also members of the consortium, which purchased the club from Paul Baker.

After completing the takeover, Murry said: "This club has had a traumatic couple of years and it is our task to put it back on an even keel."

It is also hoped by Bournemouth that they will have their transfer ban lifted as part of the latest developments, meaning that they can add to their squad ahead of an assault on the League Two title this season.
