The lack of a safety certificate at Livingston's Almondvale Stadium meant the club had to play a recent friendly without any football fans in the ground.

Following a meeting last Friday, West Lothian Police declared that the friendly with Falkirk would have to be played behind closed doors.

Financial concerns that have been hanging over the club for some time have led to a number of problems, including Livingston having to use their own generator for electricity after having their mains cut off.

The Scottish First Division club also potentially face falling into administration due to their debts, which include an unpaid rent bill to the council that has resulted in legal action being taken.

However, despite their future hanging in the balance, steps are still being taken in relation to planning ahead for next season.

A club statement revealed: "Every effort is being made to ensure that the stadium will be open for our fixture with English Coca-Cola Championship side Plymouth Argyle, scheduled for Monday July 20th, for fans to get a glimpse of John Murphy's squad for the 2009-10 campaign."

The friendly against Falkirk finished 0-0 with Murphy taking the opportunity to view 22 players.
