Norwich City have sealed a deal that will maintain their existing football sponsorship deal with Aviva for an additional season.

The new deal means that the pair will continue to join forces until the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

Norwich City chief executive David McNally has told the club's official website that the deal shows the loyalty offered by the insurance firm after the club was relegated from the Championship last season.

He commented: "This further extension to the deal is fantastic news and a great commitment of support to the club at a really challenging time for us and for football in general."

Director of business development at Aviva, John Kennedy, added that his company has achieved a lot in its first year as football sponsor, while a positive contribution to the local community has been made.

The pair began their partnership last summer, with the new deal also involving Aviva sponsoring the Geoffrey Watling City Stand at Carrow Road, although the stand's name will not be changed.

Norwich City are twice winners of the League Cup having won the trophy in both 1962 and 1985.
