Long-serving football sponsor Carlsberg may have to quickly come up with a deal for Liverpool that comes close to matching those gained by other top English Premier League clubs, it has been revealed by the Daily Mail.
Manchester United recently signed an £80 million four-year football sponsorship deal with Aon and Liverpool want a similar deal to improve their commercial position.
Carlsberg has been the club's football sponsors since 1992 but there have been reports of late of an international company having an interest in becoming associated with Liverpool.
Rafa Benitez's side signed their present deal with Carlsberg in 2007 but this expires next summer and Liverpool will be looking for significantly more than the current £7.2 million-a-year they receive.
Meanwhile, Chelsea signed a five-year football sponsorship contract with Samsung in 2005 worth £50 million.
Reports also suggest that the Stamford Bridge club are on the lookout for a future football sponsor after failing to agree a new deal with the electronics company.
In the past Carlsberg has sponsored the 1990 World Cup and Euro 2008.
