Scunthorpe United general manager Jamie Hammond is optimistic that the club's stadium will be sold out for at least half of the team's league fixtures next season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, Hammond is expecting the club's fans to flock to Glanford Park for the next campaign after Scunthorpe United sealed their promotion to the Championship.

He said: "Nigel [Adkins, manager] and the team love a midweek game and a sell-out crowd. It's going to be fantastic.

"I think we'll have towards ten sell out gates this season."

The club's initial game in the Championship will be the first league encounter at the new Cardiff City Stadium on August 8th, while their first home fixture is the following Saturday against Derby County.

However, the game that most fans are most likely to be looking forward to is the home clash with Newcastle United that is scheduled to take place on October 20th.

Scunthorpe United sealed their place in the Championship by beating Millwall 3-2 in the League One play-off final in May.
