Manchester United's world record £80 million football sponsorship deal with Aon will not be impacted upon by Cristiano Ronaldo's sale to Real Madrid, it has been revealed.
The £20 million-a-year a deal is to begin in June 2010, when the English Premier League club's deal with current football sponsors AIG expires.
However, despite Manchester United choosing to sell the Portuguese forward to Real Madrid in an £80 million deal, it has been stated that this will have no bearing on the previously arranged deal with Aon.
According to Reuters, Aon spokesman David Prosperi said: "Our agreement is with Manchester United, not over any particular player, but more the franchise and the brand.
"News of this type does not impact our agreement at all."
Manchester United's deal is higher than the £17 million-a-year gained by Bayern Munich from T-Home and the £15 million-a-year Real Madrid receive from Austrian gambling company Bwin.com.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's deal is also a record, eclipsing the £56 million Real Madrid recently paid AC Milan for Kaka and the £45.8 million the same club paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
