Arsenal's football sponsors happy with top ten finish

Arsenal have no need to worry about their current football sponsorship deal even if they finish outside of the UEFA Champions League places in the English Premier League, it has been stated.

Tim Clarke, the president of football sponsors Emirates, has indicated that the company is happy as long as Arsenal finish in the top ten in the league.

There were fears for long periods this season that Arsenal would not finish in the top four and make the UEFA Champions League, as an in-form Aston Villa seemed set to take the spot until a late season run of poor results allowed Arsene Wenger's side to regain fourth.

Mr Clarke told Reuters: "We didn't expect them to win the Champions League or the Premiership. So long as they finish in the top half."

Arsenal have not won a trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 2005, while their last league success came in 2004, the year the £100 million football sponsorship deal with Emirates was unveiled.

However, they did reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals this season, before going out to the eventual beaten finalists Manchester United.
