Refunds offered to England fans following expected tube strike

Football Supporters News

Football fans who may struggle to make it to Wembley Stadium to watch England host Andorra tomorrow night (June 10th) have been told that their tickets can be refunded.

With strikes set to take place on the London Underground from tonight until Thursday evening, many fans have been left with a dilemma on how to make it to the ground for the World Cup qualifier.

And although the FA has revealed that the game will kick-off at 8:15pm as planned, those who are unable to secure transport will be allowed their money back.

FA chief executive Ian Watmore said: "Due to the planned industrial action, travelling to and from the game is going to be very difficult and we are disappointed that England supporters are being inconvenienced in this way.

"As a special measure, refunds will be made available to ticketholders who decide not to attend this game because of the tube strike."

He added that turnstiles at Wembley will now open at 5:45pm in an attempt to ease the disruption, although no additional transport is to be offered during the evening.

England beat Kazakhstan 4-0 in their most recent qualifier on Saturday, with goals from Manchester City's new recruit Gareth Barry, Emile Heskey of Aston Villa, Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard of Chelsea.
