English Premier League clubs are the most profitable in the world, according to a new football finance study.
Deloitte has revealed that the 20 sides witnessed a collective profit of 234 million (£201.66 million), which was almost 100 million more than the Bundesliga, whose clubs achieved the next greatest profit.
During the 2007/08 season, Premier League clubs generated 2.4 billion in revenue, which was a growth of 26 per cent.
Meanwhile, 11 of the league's clubs made an operating profit for the season despite the economic downturn, with further growth predicted for the 2009/10 season.
Dan Jones, head of Deloitte's sport business group, told the BBC: "In season 2007/08 the big change was the new broadcasting deal - most of the growth came from there."
He added that there is a strong chance of the revenue generated topping the £2 billion barrier for the first time for the 2008/09 season, which would average out at £100 million per club.
However, it was also recently revealed that the combined debt of teams in the English Premier League is £3.1 billion.
