Some Hull City fans queued outside the club's KC Stadium for up to 16 hours in a bid to ensure that they got a season ticket for next season.
The club is planning ahead for its second campaign in the English Premier League, despite being tipped by many football supporters to get relegated prior to the start of last season.
However, a final day defeat at home to Manchester United was not enough to send them back to the Championship as Newcastle United failed to win at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough lost at West Ham United.
Tickets for certain areas of the ground, including the west stand lower tier and all family areas, have already sold out, with just 200 passes left up for grabs overall.
Supporter Sarah Walgate told the Hull Daily Mail that she and her friend had queued through the night for the tickets and that affording them was a challenge that had taken a year.
The 20-year-old said: "We have wanted season tickets for a while, but couldn't afford it before now.
"We have been saving up all year even my coppers so we could get them this year."
Hull City gained promotion to the English Premier League for the start of the 2008/09 season after beating Bristol City in the Championship play-off final.
