FC United tell fans to name their ticket price

Non-league football club FC United have opted to take inspiration from Radiohead as a way of improving their football finance position.

The Northern Premier League outfit are allowing their supporters to name their price when it comes to buying a season ticket, a business model used by the alternative rock band in the past.

Previously, a season ticket would cost a fan £140 at the club, but it is hoped that those who can afford more will choose to as the club looks to continue their surge towards professional football.

General manager of FC United Andy Walsh told the Guardian: "The Premier League clubs have put up prices regardless of the ability of people to pay. Those that can afford to pay continue to pay and those that can't fall off the end.

"We've demonstrated there is an alternative model that puts the supporter at the very heart of the football club rather than on the fringes."

FC United finished sixth in their division this season, narrowly missing out on a place in the play-offs to stand a chance of gaining their fourth successive promotion.
