Football Sponsors/ Sponsorship and Media
English Premier League side Manchester City is preparing to unveil a new football sponsorship deal worth approximately £45 million, it has been reported.
According to the Sun, the team from Eastlands will next week announce a new four-year shirt sponsorship contract with Air Etihad worth £30 million.
In addition to this, Umbro is also expected to announce that it will take over from Le Coq Sportif as the shirt manufacturer for Manchester City, in a deal that will bring in an extra £15 million of revenue to the club over the next four years.
Interestingly, the Sun points out that Etihad translates as 'United' in English, the name of Manchester City's closest and fiercest rivals.
In September 2008, Manchester City was purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group Investment and Development Limited, a private equity firm owned by Sheikh Mansour and the emirate's royal family, in a deal reportedly worth £200 million.
Considered to be the richest club in the world, Manchester City set a new British transfer record last year when they signed Brazilian midfielder Robinho from Real Madrid for £32.5 million.
