Despite their financial rewards that come with promotion to the English Premier League, Preston will act cautiously in the transfer market should they come up, it has been stated.
Chairman of the Championship club Derek Shaw has insisted that the club would follow the example set by Stoke this season should they achieve promotion.
To stand a chance of playing Premier League football next season, Preston must beat QPR in their final league game of the season and hope other results go in their favour to achieve a play-off place.
Shaw told BBC Radio Leicestershire: "We'd act like Stoke have done. They've had a magnificent season, spent sensibly and I think they'll build on that."
He added that Preston would have an annual turnover of around £20 million should they get promoted, which could benefit the club for a long time if invested wisely.
Preston are currently two points outside the play-offs but could move into sixth spot if they beat QPR and Burnley fail to win at home against Bristol City.
Earlier this month it was announced that Preston have agreed to a three-year kit deal with Canterbury of New Zealand.
