Falkirk are to request at least 20,000 tickets when they meet Rangers in the Homecoming Scottish Cup final at Hampden next month.

The Scottish Premier League's (SPL) bottom side sealed their passage into the final by beating Dunfermline Athletic at the weekend in front of just 17,124 spectators.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, some 32,431 fans watched Rangers triumph over St Mirren.

However, Alan Totten, a member of staff in Falkirk's commercial department, believes the club are capable of filling almost half of the 52,000 capacity.

He said: "There is a great sense of excitement in the town already, just like the last time we reached the final. We took 22,000 fans to Ibrox for the final in 1997.

"We had around 9,000 to 10,000 fans at Hampden on Sunday, but the final is a day when everyone wants to go, the grannys, the grandads and children."

Falkirk are currently managed by John Hughes and play at the Falkirk Stadium, which has a full capacity of 8,000.
