Birmingham City chairman David Gold is hoping that the club will become a more attractive proposition to investors if they can seal their passage to the English Premier League.

The Midlands club are currently sitting in second spot in the Championship with one game remaining and know that a victory away at Reading on the final day will be enough to guarantee themselves Premier League football next season.

And Gold argues that as the club is "actively seeking investors", getting promoted may help this dream become a reality.

He told the Birminham Mail: "It's so important to be in the Premier League. Investors come in, and big sponsors, when you are successful.

"The more wealthy people we can have at the football club, to support that club and take it forward, the better."

He used Manchester City as an example of a club that have got some financial muscle and have used it to attract some big name players.

Among these are Brazilian Robinho, Belgian defender Vincent Kompany and Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong.
