Port Vale hoping to benefit from economic climate

Port Vale manager Dean Glover believes that the current economic climate could play to the club's strengths as he looks to bring in new players for next season.

The club currently lie in 19th position in League Two and are safe from relegation, meaning that they will be fighting for honours in the same division during the 2009/10 season.

And Glover feels that the current climate will lead to many clubs releasing more players than normal, which will give him a wider selection of players to add to his squad.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "This year I imagine there will be more footballers up for grabs than at any other time because of the credit crunch.

"There might be a lot more experienced players there, that you thought you might not get, but you hope you can."

He added that all teams in the lower divisions will have to use their money wisely in an effort to try and gain promotion, as many teams are having to try to progress on shoestring budgets.

Port Vale have currently gone seven games without a win in League Two, with their next game being at home to promotion-chasing Wycombe Wanderers.
