Clough and Taylor statues may be built at Pride Park

Brian Clough and Peter Taylor could be commemorated for their achievements with Derby County with new statues outside Pride Park, the BBC revealed today (April 16th).

The legendary former Rams boss and his assistant enjoyed a hugely successful six-year spell with the club, winning the Division One title in 1972 before reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup.

Statues of Clough have already been built in his hometown of Middlesbrough and in Nottingham, designed to honour his astonishing achievements with Nottingham Forest.

However, Rams fan Kalwinder Singh Dhindsa - who claims he will meet Derby representatives to discuss fundraising initiatives - believes it is time to recognise the duo's work with the club.

He told the news provider: "It's not just a case that Nottingham's got one and Derby needs one too or claiming Brian Clough and Peter Taylor for Derby - it's about recognising the great achievement in a magical six-year spell at Derby."

When Taylor died in 1990, Clough famously expressed his regret over failing to resolve a bust-up with his former assistant over the transfer of John Robertson from Forest to Derby in May 1983.
