Globul extends deal with the BFU

Football Sponsors/ Sponsorship and Media

The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) confirmed on Thursday (March 26th) that it has extended its sponsorship deal with telecommunications firm Globul.

Although no financial details were provided, the deal will see the company remain the BFU's official mobile operator, while continuing to advertise with the Bulgarian national football team.

Under the terms of the deal, Globul - which first joined forces with the BFU in 2003 - will also receive a special bonus if Bulgaria qualify for the World Cup finals in South Africa next year.

Commenting on the news, the country's second-largest mobile operator released a statement which highlighted that the link-up "is one of the main priorities of the company's sponsorship policy".

"The financial assistance extended to the Bulgarian national football team is amongst the most important activities of Globul, that and the support of Bulgarian sports and athletes," the statement read.

Bulgaria currently sit in third place in World Cup qualifying group eight with four draws from four matches, putting them nine points behind leaders Italy, albeit with a game in hand.
