Cheltenham Town could be handed a huge boost after the local council revealed it is considering providing the club with a £100,000 loan, the BBC reports today (March 19th).
The Robins, who are currently sitting ten points adrift of safety at the bottom of League One, are in a perilous financial situation and narrowly avoided going into administration in February.
But now Andrew North, chief executive of Cheltenham Borough Council, has revealed that a council vote will be held on March 30th to determine whether the loan is granted.
He told the news provider: "I've been given the authority to make a decision on the loan, but only after a meeting of the full council."
The Robins have been attempting to trim their costs by informing their entire playing staff that they are free to leave if a suitable offer comes in, while goalkeeping coach Alan Fettis has been released.
Former manager Steve Cotterill took Cheltenham from the Southern League to League One in a hugely impressive spell at Whaddon Road.
